Lorsque le 147.IAP basé à Mourmachi près de Mourmansk fut transformé pour devenir le 20.GvIAP le 4 avril 1942, 12 Tomahawk lui furent offerts par le Komsomolets Zapolyar'ya (Organisation des jeunes communistes de l'Arctique), d'où cette mention figurant sur l'insigne d'escadron (> Lien). Il semblerait que seul l'appareil n°20 ait porté cette version de l'insigne d'escadrille.

En haut à droite, la première version de l'emblème du 3.AE et en bas, la nouvelle version. Par ailleurs, à l'exception de l'avion n°04 exposé lors de JPO, seuls les appareils du 3.AE portaient l'insigne de la garde sur le nez.
